Integration As explained in the introduction in the Technology Overview, shopServer was designed using a Web Service paradigm. Web Services were not only used in the external interfaces, but also in the internal architecture. This means that there are lots of Web Services that you can utilize if you want to integrate with shopServer. You can import or export products, users, prices, pictures, orders and other types of data. One of the most important standard features of the back-end is its ability to exchange data with external systems, e.g. ERP systems like those from Microsoft Business Solutions (formerly Navision). The back-end has many features that enable your Internet shop to be configured to e.g. automatically transmit orders to your ERP system, or to allow your ERP system to send product updates to shopServer. Although Web Services are today the most important mechanism for integrating with external systems, shopServer also supports other protocols like HTTP, FTP or SMTP (mail) and formats like XML, tab-separated and others. |
